Welcome to Shumi. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Shumi mobile application operated by Shumi ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Shumi. By using the App you represent that you meet this requirement. Users between 13 and 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and all activity that occurs under it. Notify us immediately at jacob@joinshumi.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
You retain ownership of content you create on Shumi (posts, photos, check-ins). By posting content you grant Shumi a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute that content within the App and in Shumi's marketing and social media channels to promote the App and the Shumi community.
You are solely responsible for content you post. You agree not to post content that:

Shumi offers optional paid subscriptions and in-app purchases (collectively "Purchases"). All Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods. For refund requests, contact Apple directly through the App Store.
Shumi provides a pledge-tracking tool that allows community moderators to create fundraising campaigns and members to record pledge commitments toward a stated goal (collectively, the "Pledge Feature"). The Pledge Feature is a commitment-tracking tool only. No money is collected, held, processed, or transmitted by Shumi at any point.
By using the Pledge Feature, you acknowledge and agree that:
If you have a dispute related to funds collected through community fundraising, you must resolve it directly with the relevant community moderator. Shumi does not mediate financial disputes between users.
Shumi offers optional in-app "Support Badge" purchases that allow members to show appreciation for community creators. Support Badge purchases are processed entirely through Apple's App Store as consumable in-app purchases. Support Badges are a social recognition feature only. Any creator earnings facilitated through Shumi are governed by the Creator Payout terms communicated separately within the App. Shumi acts solely as a platform facilitating this feature and is not responsible for tax obligations arising from creator earnings; creators are solely responsible for reporting any income received.
Certain features (check-ins, join points, nearby communities) require location access. You may disable location access in your device settings, but some features may not work as a result.
All App content, design, branding, and code (excluding user-generated content) is owned by Shumi and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App without our express written permission.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct harmful to the Shumi community. You may delete your account at any time from the App's Settings screen.
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shumi shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
